Welcome to Shiloh Within Counselling. By booking and/or attending counselling sessions with us (in-person or online), you agree to the following Terms and Conditions. Please read them carefully before engaging our services.
- General Information
- Shiloh Within Counselling provides professional counselling services for individuals (16+) and couples.
- Counselling involves assessing and clarifying problems, identifying goals and objectives, increasing self-awareness, and exploring alternative solutions to existing problems.
- Counselling may involve the practice of tools and techniques between sessions by the client(s).
- Models of therapy used often include questions about the client’s past and the present, including family-of-origin, emotions, thought patterns and communication skills, with the view to increase the client’s personal and relational wellbeing.
- Each client is fully responsible for their decisions made concerning their life and behaviour.
- Counselling is not a substitute for medical treatment. We do not provide crisis intervention, psychiatric services, or emergency care. If you are in crisis, please call 000 or Lifeline on 13 11 14.
- All counsellors at Shiloh Within Counselling are members of the Australian Counselling Association (ACA) and work under its Code of Ethics.
- Appointments & Cancellations
- Sessions are available by appointment only.
- Cancellations require at least 48 hours’ notice.
- Late cancellations or missed appointments may incur a full session fee.
- After-hours appointments are available by arrangement.
- Fees & Payments
- Private clients are personally responsible to pay for all counselling provided for themselves and/or their children 48 hours prior to the time of the session.
- Invoices are sent directly to organisations who are providing funded counselling through Carers SA, EAP services, insurance companies, employers and the like.
- Private Health rebate reimbursement of fees is the responsibility of the client, following full payment of the counselling session fee.
- Session fees are required at the time of booking.
- Accepted payment methods include EFT, credit card, and approved online booking systems.
- Fees may change without prior notice but will not affect sessions already booked.
- Confidentiality & Privacy
- All sessions are confidential in accordance with the ACA Code of Ethics.
- Exceptions apply where:

- It is an ethical and professional requirement of belonging to a registered counselling association that the counsellor undertakes regular supervision with a qualified supervisor. As such anonymous written or verbal reports may be shared with the supervisor during the course of the counselling relationship.
- The law is clear about certain behaviours, which are to be reported if revealed to counsellor. This information includes admissions or suspicions of child abuse, and risk of harm to self or others. It is the duty of the counsellor to warn appropriate individuals of these behaviours and/or intentions. Before warning anyone, the counsellor will take all possible steps, where appropriate to first share that intention with the client.
- Disclosure is required by law. i.e. subpoenaed by a court.
- The client’s prior written approval must be obtained by Shiloh Within Counselling before:

- Providing or requesting a written report with another professional or agency
- Discussing the material shared in counselling sessions with another person/family member
- Providing a written report to an insurance company that would be funding your treatment
- Apart from these exceptions, it is agreed that all information by the client shall be treated as confidential and only used and stored in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles.

- Online & Telehealth Counselling
- Telehealth sessions are available throughout Australia, New Zealand and beyond (subject to insurance).
- Clients are responsible for ensuring they have a secure, private, and stable internet connection.
- Shiloh Within Counselling is not liable for technical disruptions during online sessions.
- Suitability of Services
- The effectiveness of counselling cannot be guaranteed, and Shiloh Within Counselling will not be responsible for the outcomes, or for the result of any action taken by the client as a result of advice or guidance given by the counsellor, whether explicit or implied.
- Counselling may not be suitable for every individual or couple. In some cases, referral to another professional (e.g., GP, psychologist, psychiatrist) may be recommended.
- Supervision Services
- Supervision is offered to ACA members, counselling students, and new graduates.
- All supervision services follow ACA’s professional guidelines and ethical standards.
- Limitation of Liability
- Shiloh Within Counselling is not responsible for any direct or indirect damages arising from use of our website, services, or resources.
- All information provided (including blogs and resources) is for educational purposes only and should not replace personalised professional advice.
- Changes to Terms and Conditions
- Shiloh Within Counselling reserves the right to update or modify these Terms and Conditions at any time.
- Continued use of our services following changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
